The office of San Bernardino County Assessor officially became vacant on February 13th at noon as a result of the letter of resignation Bill Postmus submitted to the county on Feb. 6.

“Our goal as a county is to now put this distraction behind us and move forward as we continue to address the needs of the county’s 2 million residents and cope with our many pressing current challenges,” Chairman Ovitt said today.

Chairman Ovitt said he would discuss with the other Board of Supervisors members options for addressing the vacancy during a future board meeting. He expressed confidence in Assistant Assessor Dennis Draeger’s ability to manage and lead the department until the vacancy is filled, and will maintain regular contact with Draeger to ensure the department continues to run smoothly and fulfill its mission.
