In partnership with national Earth Day and in celebration of “A Better Way of Life,” the Town of Apple Valley is calling for volunteers at the Community Clean-Up Day Saturday, April 11, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Community service organizations, schools, clubs and individual volunteers are invited and encouraged to participate in cleaning up designated areas of town. Each volunteer receives an event t-shirt provided by Wal Mart, and water provided by Sparkletts while the Town provides lunch, safety items, and the thousands of trash bags needed to make the event a success. Volunteers must sign up in advance and then check in for assignments at Town Hall, 14955 Dale Evans Parkway. To help make a difference in the Town of Apple Valley call Special Events at 240-7000 x 7071 or email Julie Gilmer, Event Coordinator.

Last year over 1,000 volunteers worked together throughout Apple Valley removing trash from streets, residential areas and empty lots. Our twice annual Clean Up Days are made possible with the help of Burrtec, Take Pride in America, Keep California Beautiful and Charles Abbott and Associates.

Apple Valley residents can bring their household trash to the Victorville landfill free of charge from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, collection bins will be set up at the corner of Navajo and Pah-ute. Bulky household items such as mattresses, appliances, furniture and other large items may be dropped off free of charge. No tires, televisions, computer monitors or other hazardous materials will be accepted. You must bring proof of Apple Valley residency. General household trash, yard waste and construction debris will be not be accepted, although these items may be taken directly to the landfill. This program is offered in conjunction with the County of San Bernardino Waste System Division Free Dump and Recycle Day.
