Twenty Nine Palms – On April 1, 2009, Teresa Turbyfill, 43, of Twentynine Palms, was arrested pursuant to a warrant issued for auto insurance fraud. The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Morongo Basin Office conducted the investigation.
In November 2008, Turbyfill’s husband, Allen Turbyfill, left the scene of a collision after a hit and run accident in his 2005 Cadillac. He subsequently reported to the Morongo Sheriff’s Office that he had been carjacked prior to the hit
and run, and that his 2005 Cadillac had later been burned by the suspects and destroyed in the fire. After evidence indicated otherwise, Sheriff’s officials arrested Mr. Turbyfill. He is currently awaiting trial in this matter.
The day following the arrest of her husband, Teresa Turbyfill filed an insurance claim listing the vehicle as a total loss due to the arson. She did this even after having complete knowledge of her husband’s alleged actions. Mrs. Turbyfill is now also currently awaiting trial in this matter for her involvement.
