Additional Suspect Arrested on Mortgage Fraud Charges

San Bernardino – On Tuesday, March 31, 2009, San Bernardino County District Attorney Investigators assigned to the Real Estate Fraud Unit traveled to suburban Washington D.C. and escorted wanted suspect, Duk Sung Jin, 30, of McLean Virginia, back to San Bernardino County to face felony fraud charges. Jin was arrested on March 24, 2009, after DA Investigators contacted the United States Marshals Service in Fairfax County Virginia to check on a possible location of Jin in Fairfax County, Virginia. Federal agents, along with Fairfax County Police, arrested Jin without incident at a home in McLean, Virginia.

Jin is facing felony charges of conspiracy and grand theft with an estimated total loss of over 1.2 million dollars. The victim’s identity was used to steal (2) two homes and (2) two vehicles. The homes went into foreclosure after the equity was drawn out of the homes in the form of 2nd mortgages in the victims’ names.  Through investigation, it was learned at least one vehicle was illegally shipped to Korea.

A fourth suspect, Kenneth Sung Park has been located and is currently being detained in federal custody on unrelated federal mortgage fraud charges. Kenneth Sung Park is also wanted in connection with identity theft, grand theft, and forgery in San Bernardino County on a $2,180,000 felony arrest warrant. Michael Moon Park and his wife Bu Yun Park of Helendale were arrested on March 17, 2009, in connection with this case. One suspect remains outstanding and is actively being sought. He is identified as Jason S. Kim and may be in the Los Angeles area. Bail for Jin has been set in the amount of $2,180,000.
