ASSEMBLYMAN PAUL COOK ENDORSES MEG WHITMAN

Posted By Press Release on June 29, 2009

CUPERTINO – Meg Whitman, Republican candidate for governor, today announced the endorsement of Assemblyman Paul Cook. Cook is a highly decorated former Marine colonel and since 2006 he has represented the 65th Assembly district, which includes Hemet, Moreno Valley and Yucca Valley. His combat actions earned him the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

“I admire Paul Cook’s heroic service as a Marine and now his role in public service as a common-sense, solutions-focused conservative,” Whitman said. “As a former mayor of Yucca Valley and as an educator, he knows first-hand how Sacramento’s senseless spending hurts our schools and our communities. I am honored to have his endorsement.”

“Meg Whitman brings the new kind of leadership we desperately need in Sacramento. Her experience successfully leading a large, innovative organization, creating jobs and delivering results makes her California’s best hope,” Cook said. “She is the one candidate in the race who can turn around our state’s economy and win in 2010.”

Paul Cook serves on the Assembly Budget, Higher Education and Governmental Organization committees. He is vice chair of the Veterans Affairs committee. Previously, he was a mayor and council member in Yucca Valley. In a military career that spanned 26 years, he served as an infantry officer and retired as a colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps.
