The Budget Deal

SACRAMENTO – With a final budget deal approved, it is clear that we have much to celebrate. Republicans in Sacramento just scored a decisive victory for California taxpayers with a new budget agreement that closes the state’s massive budget deficit without raising taxes.
You are a key part of that victory.
By supporting our Republican lawmakers and Governor Schwarzenegger as they were being challenged by the public employee unions and liberal groups to raise our taxes even higher, you helped to defeat what would have been another tax hike on already overburdened Californians.
Together we backed up our Republican team by attending rallies and protests, calling in to talk radio, waging an effective media campaign, and phoning Sacramento directly as Republicans fought to protect taxpayers – and won. But this is one battle, the war continues.
Democrats in the legislature will continue to defy the voters by pushing to increase taxes and fees on anything and everything they can think of. We must stay vigilant and alert, continuing the fight against higher taxes and big government spending we simply can’t afford.
