Bite Occurred on January 5 at Sly Park Lake

Posted By Press Release on January 7, 2010

El Dorado County Animal Services is searching for the owner of a dog that bit a 40-year-old man on Tuesday, January 5 at 3:30 p.m. as he was walking his dog on a walking trail at Sly Park Lake in Pollock Pines.  The biting dog is described as a male, black Newfoundland, weighing approximately 140 pounds and wearing a black collar with tags.  The dog, which was running loose, began to attack the man’s dog (a Great Dane); the man was bitten on the hand as he attempted to break up the fight between the dogs.  The biting dog then ran away.

The man’s injuries were minor.  However, Animal Services would like to speak to the owner of the dog to verify that the dog is current on its rabies vaccinations so that the man does not have to go through post-exposure rabies treatments.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Animal Services at (530) 621-5795.
