Posted By Press Release on March 11, 2010

Mayor Don Kurth, a life-long Second Amendment enthusiast and NRA supporter recently initiated a resolution recognizing the NRA Eddie Eagle Gun Safety Program which unanimously passed the Rancho Cucamonga City Council. Chief of Police Joe Cusimano thank Mayor Kurth and the entire City Council for their strong support and implementation of the NRA’s nationally recognized gun safety program.

“I have always been a strong supporter of our American Second Amendment rights,” explained the Mayor. “Along with those rights, however, comes the responsibility to teach gun safety to our children. The right to bear arms is not only essential to the preservation of life, liberty, and property, it is the central theme to American democracy set forth by our Founding Fathers in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.”

“My dad was a lifer in the United States Navy,” Kurth proudly explained. “As a boy, he taught me gun safety and how to shoot on the Montana prairie, plinking tin cans off fence posts. As a Boy Scout, those lessons were reinforced once again. All young Americans deserve a chance to understand firearms and gun safety. In my adult life, I have been a member of the Safari Club for many years. So, I am able to put those lessons of my youth to use in my life today.”

Mayor Kurth thanked the NRA for their tradition of political activism on behalf of all Americans. “Don’t be discouraged if things don’t seem to go our way at times,” said Kurth. “Our responsibility is to fight the good fight. The results are up to God and our successes will happen in God’s time.”

Kurth was then presented with the Friends of the NRA Recognition Award in appreciation for his commitment to the Second Amendment, gun safety and the preservation of our fundamental American rights.

Mayor Don Kurth is the leading candidate in the June 8, 2010 Republican primary election for the 63rd Assembly District. He will be replacing Assemblyman Bill Emmerson who is being termed out this year.
